It is so very odd that Malchut Beit David, of all families, appears in the Torah to be based upon a series of passionate but not always apparently appropriate relationships between a man and a woman. Ruth, is descended from a relationship between Lot and his Daughter. Her own relationship with Boaz starts out in an almost bizarre way, not the normal route that a shiduch for the generation's Gadol would take! Yehuda and Tamar are no more appropriate in the way they get together. Then the strangest of all, David and Bat Sheva. While each of these relationships need to be understood on levels that may well elude us, they are presented in the Tanach in the way they are, for us to learn from. This series explores these 'weird' and wonderful relationships and, while remaining focused on their fundamental human-ness, probes some of the deeper meanings in the stories and their significance to us.
